Time does not pass. It accumulates.
Our memories, our emotions, our scars — nothing ever truly fades. Everything resonates, leaves a trace, returns in other forms. These invisible echoes shape who we are.
In ECHOES, Alina Schiau makes this process visible.
Forms overlap, spill over, and speak to one another. Each layer covers the one before without ever erasing it: the past continues to act beneath the present.
In each painting, a phrase is engraved into the still-wet paint. It remains, sometimes barely legible, like those memories we believe are lost yet continue to inhabit us.
Between what was lived and what remains, there is this vibration: the echo of a memory that never dies.
The series extends into space with two installations, ECHOES SUSPENDED and ECHOES WITHIN, presented at STRATES in 2026.
