BIOGRAPHY

Alina Schiau was born in Romania in 1980. At the age of three, her family fled the Ceaușescu dictatorship and found refuge in Switzerland. Growing up between two cultures, two languages, and two histories nurtured in her, from a very early age, a reflection on identity, transmission, and what makes us who we are.

Trained at the École d'Arts Appliqués Bellecour in Geneva, she explored various modes of artistic expression before devoting herself fully to painting in 2019.

Through painting, engraved words, and immersive installations, she explores questions that have resonated with her since childhood: what we carry within us, what connects us to one another, and what continues to live on when everything seems to have disappeared.

She lives and works in the Paris region. Her work is represented by ACID Gallery (Lille) and Galerie Partage (Lyon).
