STRATES extends into space a body of research conducted over several years into the invisible realities that inhabit us.
The exhibition was designed within the studio where Alina Schiau creates. The studio has been entirely reconfigured: every space, every object, and every detail contributes to the experience. The visitor is no longer just observing the strata, but moving through them.
A journey through four spaces
The entrance. In the dark, a music box engraved with: "Reveal the invisible that structures the visible."
Then, on the studio walls, the canvases of the ECHOES series, created specifically for the exhibition: WAS, EMBER, LILI, VIVID, FULL, STILL, RISING, and BECOMING. They explore the traces that time, experiences, memories, and emotions leave within us. Two new installations extend this research into the space.
ECHOES SUSPENDED. Hand-dyed veils suspend color in the air. You no longer just look at it; you walk through it.
ECHOES WITHIN. Two mirror-canvases face each other. You sit down, put on headphones, and the artist's voice accompanies this encounter with yourself.
INNER LANDS. Behind a dark curtain, the first canvas of the new series, THRESHOLD, and a swing.
