STRATES extends into space a body of research conducted over several years into the invisible realities that inhabit us.
The exhibition was designed within the studio where Alina Schiau creates. The studio has been entirely reconfigured: every space, every object, and every detail contributes to the experience. The visitor is no longer just observing the layers, but moving through them.
Four spaces
The entrance. In the dark, a music box engraved with: "The invisible shapes the visible."
Then, on the studio walls, the canvases of the ECHOES series, created specifically for the exhibition: WAS, EMBER, LILI, VIVID, FULL, STILL, RISING, BECOMING, FORGOTTEN, and ONGOING. They explore the traces that time, experiences, memories, and emotions leave within us. Two new installations extend this research into the space.
ECHOES SUSPENDED. Hand-dyed veils make tangible what inhabits us: memories, inheritances, absences, scars. You no longer look at these layers; you move through them.
ECHOES WITHIN. Seated before a mirror, you put on headphones. The artist's voice accompanies this encounter with yourself.
ECHOES WITHIN is experienced through listening.
INNER LANDS. Behind a dark curtain, the first canvas of the new series, THRESHOLD, and a swing.
