INKTOBER 2019
Created by Jake Parker in 2009, ‘Inktober’ is an international art challenge in which participants draw one picture a day between 1 and 31 October, following a list of set themes. Alina Schiau wanted her 31 ‘INKTOBER2019’ drawings to be part of her DRAW ME A LINE series, with the same graphic and symbolic codes: a simple line and message, and a lot of humour.
She has fun with the themes, twisting them in her own way, with words and medium, as a child would. The children's drawings are authentic, touching and amusing, because they are full of hard-hitting lucidity. That's what she's looking for in these drawings: to let the little girl in her express herself, so that the big girl never gets bored.... At the same time, she's trying to stir up some kind of emotion in the viewer.

She has fun with the themes, hijacking them in her own way, with words and medium, as a child would. The children's drawings are authentic, touching and amusing, because they are charged with a percussive lucidity. That's what she's aiming for with these drawings: to let the little girl in her express herself, so that the big girl never gets bored.... At the same time, she aims to evoke an emotion, whatever it may be, in the viewer.
