Right-handed, Alina Schiau has chosen to trace, paint and write with her left hand for the EMPTY series. Like a wink to her share of innocence and imperfections, (en it. sinistra), this choice also evokes emotions, the carnal and the organic.

EMPTY takes up the codes of alina(lalala): imperfect and free. 

Questioning various aspects of our contemporary society, its visual metaphors, empty letters and ironic phrases combine to project a brutal honesty on the vulnerability of emotions. Though almost always done with humor, these elements have an unsettling sincerity that compels us to question the world in turn.
