S&M#1 - initials of Smoke and Mirror (lark mirror, smoke screen etc.) is a repentance, as alina(lalala) likes to do, undo it and redo it. (A repentance (pentimento in Italian), in painting, is a part of the painting which has been covered by the painter to profoundly modify the canvas.)

She has fun with herself, with painting, with materials, words and letters which almost become shapes. But not only that, alina(lalala) also has fun with the world of contemporary art, ironically about its decadence and the obscenity of its economy. This work prompts us to question our relationship to material goods and their true values.
