The myth of Icarus addresses themes of transgression in parent/child relationships or between slave and free social groups, and more generally, between nature and culture. Humans are confronted with the harmful effect that advice or a ban can have and their desire to push the boundaries of exploration and knowledge ever further, at the risk of subjecting their human condition to a fatal ordeal.
